Finding our resilience in challenging times

I woke up this morning from a dream that felt like a potential future timeline.  I was in a world where people were taken from their homes to work in camps to serve massive corporations.  In my dream I was part of a rebellion and my life was filled with justified paranoia and fear, but I also sensed that I that a power I could use to change the way things were in this dreamt future.   After I got up, I read several Instagram posts (by political Historian Heather Cox Richardson and podcaster and writer Sharon McMahon) that added more fuel to the uncomfortable sensation brought on by my dream.  Needless to say, I felt unsettled going into my day.

It feels to me that the rampant ideals of racism and misogyny and/or corporate greed have us at a precipice.  But I was reminded that astrologically speaking, the heavens are moving toward a great shift in consciousness, one that I have been feeling and experiencing viscerally over the past several years.  Is it a race between human insanity or a larger divine plan?  I have no idea, just a knowing that there is more to all of this than what we read on social media.

It’s easy for us to fall into despair as we see all that’s happening around us.  So how do we prepare ourselves to weather the next two years of rapid shifts and changes that astrologists have been speaking about?  How do we find what we need to support the sanctity of our own wholeness while recharging our resilience?

For me this comes down to my daily practices and rituals.  It is in these small activities and intentions that I am able to be in the world as it is – aware, yet grounded.  In my case, my practices look like daily meditation, having coffee with my wife Jenn every morning, Yoga, QiGong and journalling.  To you they might look like listening to music, doing the dishes or going for a walk.  They might include boxing or jogging.  It’s not about how long we do these things, but how consistently.  It is in the consistency of my own practices that I find grounding and stability, and today was no different. Some meditation, some QiGong and journalling, and I find myself on energetically stable ground again.

With whatever works for you, your practices can help you come into alignment with who you are, and in them you might find the resilience you need to embrace the world as it is unfolding right now.  You are resilient – all humans are.  And I believe that every one of us is deeply resourced – but we often forget that truth when we fall down the rabbit hole of news and social media.  It is in our daily practices that we can come back to ourselves and know that we can be part of the world, taking care of it in whatever way we are capable of, whether on a grand scale, or on a small scale right here at home.

For anyone searching to reconnect with your inherent wholeness, resources and resiliency who is in my local community, I will be hosting a 2-hour Group RIM and Breathwork practice at True Center Yoga on January 19th, 2025 (just before the Presidential inauguration).  Join your neighbors as we gather to create connection to our community and ourselves.
